| Spoke to Richmond Gears Sales Manager today. He suggested a few things... to keep the cost down he wants to see if they can use any existing 5 speed setups that they have so that they don't have to build a new mold. I need someone here to provide to me a dimensional drawing of the stock 5 speed M/T TT. This is the first step. Who can step up and help out here ( NIXIT comes to mind ???? ) Thanks in advance to whomever can help with the scale drawing. My drafting skills are sub par unfortunately. Based on the polls responses,I got a few questions answered as well. If you have not voted, please vote here Gear ratios : Can do any gear ratio desired. Cheapest option is to have one desired gear ratio. I mentioned that some folks ( leager gear people for example ) may want an option to select a different gear ratio than stock. Warranty : The warranty is the same as provided with leader gears ( good faith that they will stand behind their product is what I was told ). They will take all warranty work as a case by case evaluation of why the tranny failed. We didn't talk too much in detail here. I figured get more details once we find out if they can make the tranny first. He did say that they don't see too many transmissions come back defective and they take pride on the quality of their work and doing the right thing to fix issues. I get the impression that these guys are big time ( bigger than I think ) in the built tranny business. I could be wrong here though. Bolt on Application : The transmissions come complete as a bolt on application with a complete selection of replacement parts if needed. The dimensional drawing also will give them an idea on what modifications ( if necess ) are needed to the driveshaft / flywheel / clutch / etc. They can make a custom adapter plate easy on an existing mold. No core charges !!! Bullet proof statement : What I was told is that the transmissions publically are rated to handle 600ft/lbs of torque. The Sales Manager stated that his engineers have told him "off the record" that they can handle 700 ft/lbs. I should have specified if that was at the motor or the wheel in hindsight. When he asked me for what type of loads, I told him up to 650 ft/lbs or torque at the wheel and dragstrip reliability. For what it's worth, he said no problem if they can build it and keep the tooling costs down.
